After everything's settled a bit and Ayabe also collects himself enough to show his face around the rest of the mansion, he pokes his head out of the room and looks for people who might not know. The blind have it tough, and he's worried about some of the younger children who might get frightened of the news.
He finds Hori in-- closes eyes and points at the map-- the study, where he'd been thinking of getting another notebook from the supply there, and waves him down. ]
[ it's like waldo, you have to find him. unlike other strange maybe immortal people, horikawa doesn't mind being found. he smiles from where he's sitting, tucked into a corner, notebook and pens scattered around him. ]
[ Ayabe is completely deaf, but regardless of what Hori just said, it's the smile on his face that makes Ayabe's expression crumple. He takes out his own notebook and sits down in the corner across from Hori, writing first before turning the notebook around: ]
I wasn't very close either. I know there's nothing I could have done, but I still wish I would have been there faster. Earlier. I wanted to make sure everybody is doing alright in the aftermath. Will you be okay?
You're mature for your age, aren't you? It's true, though, all life ends. But this wasn't old age, so that makes it scarier for people. It must have been an accident, and one that could have affected any of us here.
[ it's probably for the best ayabe can't hear how dry horikawa's chuckles are right now. AYABE..... BOY, U IN FOR A SUPRISE......... ]
That's true. The unknown factors are certainly something to be wary of. I only wish there could be a way to reassure the others and prove that it'll be alright in the end.
Just about the only thing that can comfort anybody in the is instance is being able to go home. There's no way they would allow a dinner party to continue in these circumstances, right?
[ Ayabe came prepared, he has an entire wagon full of cleaning supplies brought upstairs- scrubs, wipes, rags, soap, detergent, brooms, a bucket, etc- but no matter how prepared he is or how capable, he gets a door to his face as he's waved out of the kitchen and into the adjacent dining room.
[ i'm gonna just ignore my shame of somehow losing the tag for the previous pc entirely in my inbox and continue on with my life.
HI AYABE. Hori's nursing a headache in the lounge after bouncing off yet another barrier so, please appreciate the normally well mannered sword is currently sprawled on a sofa ]
[ adsflkjh I ALSO FORGOT it's okay, Ayabe got kicked out of the kitchen and stood there while Hori couldn't do anything about it anyways and they moped for the rest of the night, the end.
ANYWAYS, HI HORI
People sprawled on the sofas here isn't normally a cause for concern, but it would be if Hori looks particularly disgruntled. ]
Horikawa, what's wrong?
[ If Hori weren't 6, Ayabe would think he has a hangover, the alcohol is the only reason people are here these days. ]
[ there's honestly probably just a bruise from repeated bouncings tbh. it's fine. nothings swimming yet.
except thinking of such comes the cold and dark until it does, hori staring up at the fading sky as it slides farther and farther away. Only the sound of rushing bubbles surrounds him as he falls until there’s only the darkness of the ocean left. even the clang of metal striking ground is muffled and both Horikawa Kunihiro the blade and spirit lay forgotten in deep water unable to move, unable to speak, unable to scream for someone, anyone. there’s no way to tell the passing of time this far down except the slow rot of metal, as he fades away little by little. who knows how long it's been since he's seen daylight and felt the warmth of his master wielding him. who knows how long it'll be as he rusts, each passing moment agony as he dies a slow silent death. ah......kanesan, if only he could see you once more- ]
[ It's like drowning but for real this time, cold and wet along with the pressure and darkness, the slight hysteria that builds up at the very back of the mind.
HOW LONG IS THIS MEMORY ARI, ARE THEY BOTH GOING TO SUFFER LIKE THIS FOR YEARS. I'm prepared for this memory to just last years and years and years while they're both collapsed on the couch for two seconds. ]

Hello...!

Did you hear the news?
no subject
Did you get a chance to speak with them before? The one who fell ... ill.
no subject
Yes, briefly. She was kind and looked out for me.
Peach, Plum, and Pumpkin took her away. Luna believes she's dead.

I heard the commotion but I was too far away to see what happened. You have my condolences.

I wanted to make sure everybody is doing alright in the aftermath. Will you be okay?

We only saw each other in passing. So while it feels sad to lose someone I've only just met, all life does end eventually.
[ hori, that's depressing? ]

I would hope so. Yet somehow I doubt we will be allowed to leave so easily. This place is too strange for such an easy exit.

HI AYABE. Hori's nursing a headache in the lounge after bouncing off yet another barrier so, please appreciate the normally well mannered sword is currently sprawled on a sofa ]

ANYWAYS, HI HORI

Horikawa, what's wrong?
[ If Hori weren't 6, Ayabe would think he has a hangover, the alcohol is the only reason people are here these days. ]
no subject
[ honestly, he hasn't even looked at alcohol lately given the way last week went. time to change that if they're all gonna be bouncing off of things ]
no subject
[ He's always tentatively papping the space in front of doors recently, so he immediately gets what Hori is talking about. ]
Yes, and it's annoying. You have the right idea, camping out here and not moving.
[ Live in the lounge forever and there will be no problem.]
no subject
[ between that and something in the kitchen making him nauseous, he's just having a great time right now ]
no subject
Ayabe takes a seat down on one of the couches across from Hori.
... ]
Luna didn't... find out about last week, did she?
no subject
Not from me. There wasn't even a question about it.
no subject
-—You can lie down if you need to.
[ Even though he's just taken a seat, he's quick to get up again to reach out to Hori, in case he needs somebody to steady him. ]
Do you need painkillers? I picked some up from upstairs.
no subject
I'm fine, I'm fine...! I think I just bounced a little too hard this time around.
[ who knew being human came with irritations like your head being sensitive to bouncing ]
I'll make sure to have Luna-san check me if it's still sore in an hour or so.
no subject
[ He closes his eyes trying to remember how concussions work but he's drawing blanks for any more than that. ]
